This new section has been created due to the expressed interest within the GPANM membership on "How to file a claim?", and specifically, how it is done in the state of New Mexico.
The U.S. Department of the Interior, and specifically, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has the official authority to manage public lands in the USA. All claims are filed with the county and state BLM offices.
In 2019, the BLM published an informative pamphlet that describes mining claims and details on how to file a claim. The cover to the pamphlet is shown on the right. A PDF of the pamphlet can be download here. |
GPAA Founder George "Buzzard" Massie breaks down the process of filing or patenting a mining claim, as it relates to the 1872 Mining Law, in this 2-part series of YouTube videos, Part 1 here and Part 2 here.
We have plans to populate this section with more information, tutorials, and how-to videos, so check back often.
