Maps to the 2023 Hopewell Outing
Google Maps says it will take you 2-hours and 44-minutes to drive the 161-miles from the Big-I in Albuquerque to Hopewell Lake. You can download the map above here.
The map below, available for download here, shows the local area around Hopewell Lake. You most likely will be coming to Hopewell Lake from the east (noted by the big yellow arrow), after turning west onto US Hwy-64 in Tres Piedras. Our co-hosts, Jim and Ann Johnson, will be setting up their camp, and will be cooking and providing us with a wonderful Tex-Mex meal Saturday afternoon at 5:00PM, at the location labeled "food and camping area for Hopewell outing" on the map.
At this outing, Tuerto Mountain LLC will be giving us access to one of their claims in the area. The location of their claim is not marked on the map. Their claim is just off US Hwy-64, about 2-miles away from where the Johnsons, and most likely others, are camping.

Maps to metal detecting outing
>>> for GPANM members only <<<
This is rather short notice, but below are maps to the "mailboxes", which is a common meeting-up location for new GPANM members, for outings in the San Pedro mountains. For today's metal detecting outing, an experienced GPANM member will meet new members (who don't know where the outing is to be held) at the mailboxes at 8:00AM. At 8:30AM everyone at the mailboxes will caravan to the outing. Below are a series of maps that should get you to the mailboxes. In general, from Albuquerque, head east on I-40, take Exit 175 for 14 Cedar Crest. After the exit hang to the left and proceed on to North-14. Drive north on North-14 for about 15-miles and you'll come to the intersection of North-14 and NM-344. The mailboxes are at this intersection.
