On the claim
This is one of many outings in 2019.
Metal Detecting outing 2019
The metal detecting outing gives new members the chance to learn best practices when metal detecting.
Pilar outing
The club has the Pilar outing that is just south of Taos, annually and reserves the camping area. We enjoyed a great potluck dinner and the club president Mike cooked everyone a steak.
Have you ever seen a working Stamp mill?
Hello, I'm Al a member and Secretary of the GPANM. We have a stamp mill that is falling down near one of our claims. After seeing this old building I had to know what it looked like inside long ago. I was finally able to see the inside of a working stamp mill one day at the Western Museum of Mining and Industry as I was passing thru Colorado Springs. I was even lucky enough to get a behind the scenes tour from the great people who volunteer their time to keep the stamp mill running. The video brings you along to with me as we get this rarely given tour, and go to the third level of the stamp mill.
Giving back to the community
It is Christmas time again and that means that the Gold Prospectors Association of New Mexico is donating some hams to the local food pantry. Located at the Los Griegos Community Center where the GPANM club meets every 3rd Thursday of the month is the food pantry. Our club has been keeping this tradition going for many years now.
Old stamp mill near the claim
This stamp mill that is located near one of our claims is barely standing. It is also the reason that the Yellow Jacket
#2 stamp mill video was made. It took a road trip of hundreds of miles to visit a working stamp mill and see what used to happen in this place that adorns the side of this quiet mountain.
