Our current GPANM Member Claim Certifier, Bill Beck, will be certifying members at our GPANM Red Rock claim over the weekend of June 5 to 6, 2021. On June 5, Bill will meet you at the Exit 100 off I-25 at 10:00AM to guide you to the site. The road to the camping area that we use near the claim is a dirt road but it is good for passenger cars. But, the road to get to the claim requires a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle!
To all GPANM Members,
A quick reminder that now is renewal time for all members. This year please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope so that I can mail you the new membership card and your receipt. See the May 2021 newsletter for renewal and mailing instructions. Thank you all for your continued years of being a member, being such a great asset to GPANM, and being my friend. Barbara Sullivan-Dwyer GPANM Membership Chairman Bill Beck will be doing certifications at the Eddie's claim on Sunday, February 21. He is meeting everyone at the mailboxes, at the corner of North 14 and Rt-344, at 10 AM. From there he will lead you to the claim.
On August 8, 2020, Saturday, we have decided to cautiously attempt an outing at Paul and Eddy's claim. Starting at 10am, there will be speakers discussing Prospecting Safety.
Since our outings are outdoors, we should be able to easily socially distant ourselves. We still recommend that you wear a mask if you find yourself coming within 6-feet of someone. Until further notice, due to Covid-19 restrictions, meetings at the Los Griegos Community Center and outings have been cancelled.
Our past president was out talking with some of the vendors at the GPAA Gold show in Albuquerque to try and get some cool door prizes donated to us. And that he did, the very friendly people at Gold Claw happily donated some Gold Claws to our club. So whenever our monthly club meetings resume there will be some new owners of The Gold Claw. But you must be present to win these prizes.
Please visit and support or friends @ https://www.goldclaw.com. We were lucky enough to meet Mike Pung at the GPAA gold show this year. You may know him as the creator of the Gold Cube and the Banjo Pan. Our President Tommy reached out to Mike and he was nice enough to donate a couple of Banjo Pans to the GPANM to be used as door prizes at our meetings. It is unfortunate that we have not been able to hold a meeting since the gold show. But when our meeting resume there will be a few lucky owners of a brand spanking new banjo pan. The Gold Prospectors Association of NM would like to thank Mike for being such a nice guy. If you attended the gold show hopefully you were able to catch Mike's lecture about fine gold recovery. I was lucky enough to catch this lecture and walked away with a ton of great information on how to recover that super tiny shiny. Please visit and support https://goldcube.net.
June 1 will be David Rogers annual metal detecting class. This is a very popular outing, with lots of family fun. Dave will be sharing tips and tricks of how to effectively use a metal detector.
Most of the ground on our claims are heavily mineralized and can present challenges even to the advanced prospector. Dave's class is fun and full of knowledge from an experienced miner. A quick reminder that now is renewal time for all members. At our next meeting on the May 16th, check in with Barb at the back and she will get you set up. Renewals must be received or mailed NO later than June 20th. Hope to see you at the meeting.
